Job summary

Grand Ledge Public Schools is seeking a Collaborative Pianist to provide high-quality piano accompaniment for vocal programs, rehearsals and performances, while assisting with department administration. The role supports student learning and musical growth in a positive environment.

The position requires proficiency in piano performance, fluent music-reading, and ability to accompany vocal and instrumental ensembles. Evening performances and some weekend events are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; degree in Music or equivalent experience preferred.
• Proficiency in piano performance and accompaniment.
• Ability to read music fluently and accompany vocal/instrumental ensembles.
• Experience accompanying school, church, community, or collegiate music programs preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with directors, students and staff.
• Ability to adapt to changing rehearsal schedules and performance needs.
• Basic knowledge of Google Suite, keyboarding and bookkeeping.

Responsibilities

• Provide piano accompaniment for choir, soloists, ensembles, rehearsals and performances.
• Collaborate with music teachers to prepare students for concerts and events.
• Attend rehearsals, concerts and other music functions as scheduled.
• Learn and prepare assigned musical selections before rehearsals.
• Follow conductor’s tempo, dynamics, articulation and style.
• Assist with sight-reading and music theory support.
• Accompany auditions and school music activities.
• Support classroom and sectional rehearsals and administrative tasks.
• Maintain professionalism and positive relationships; protect confidentiality.
