Job summary

The Glassell Junior School at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston invites qualified candidates for part-time contract faculty positions in visual art instruction across ceramics, media/digital arts, drawing, painting, sculpture, fashion and more. Candidates should have a BA or BFA in arts/education or related experience.

Responsibilities include teaching, nurturing creativity, maintaining an orderly classroom, and staying current with safety practices and school policies; evening/weekend

Qualifications

• B.A. or B.F.A. in arts, education, or humanities (commensurate experience in teaching and professional development may be substituted with administrative approval).
• Applicants must have demonstrated knowledge of artistic processes, mediums, and techniques.
• Previous teaching experience in related field and experience teaching children ages 4-18 strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach and instruction as part of the Glassell Junior School in visual arts (ceramics, media/digital arts, drawing, painting, sculpture, fashion, etc.).
• Maintain an efficient and orderly classroom and ensure safe use of materials and equipment.
• Uphold behavior standards and supervise students during class and related activities.
• Develop new courses/materials in collaboration with Junior School leadership.
• Attend and participate in faculty meetings and stay current with school policies and safety practices.
