Job summary

The Columbus Visitor Information Specialist is a part-time role with the Georgia Department of Economic Development. You will greet travelers and provide expert guidance on Georgia destinations, events, and attractions at the Columbus visitor center.

You will assist travelers with lodging and planning, maintain visitor records, and support marketing campaigns to promote tourism and strengthen statewide economic impact. Weekend and holiday coverage is required.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors with warmth, professionalism, and Southern hospitality
• Provide expert guidance on Georgia’s destinations, events, attractions, dining, and hidden gems
• Help travelers plan routes, secure lodging, and locate essential services
• Maintain accurate visitor records and engagement data
• Represent Georgia at travel shows and events to promote tourism and economic impact
• Assist in updating event and attraction information for state publications and websites
• Support promotional campaigns and marketing initiatives
• Work flexible rotating weekend shifts and some holidays
