Job summary

Alliance Animal Health in Ardmore, AL is seeking a veterinary assistant to join a full-service hospital. You will perform animal restraint, triage, collect and analyze lab samples, perform radiographs, assist surgery, and communicate treatment plans to clients.

The role offers hands-on training, opportunities for professional growth, and a supportive team culture. A minimum of 1 year veterinary assistant experience is preferred; RVT is a plus, but not required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year professional veterinary assistant experience; RVT preferred but not required.
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude as a team member.

• Excellent customer service and precise communication.
• Ability to interpret medical records and client history.
• Knowledge in preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow.
• Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress, safe manner.
• Proficient in sample collection (blood, urine, fecal, skin) and lab processing.
• Proficient in radiograph positioning, including dental radiographs is a plus.
• Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring.
• Self-starter with desire to continue growing knowledge and skills.
• Able to receive constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency.

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

• Ability to receive in a professional manner constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency
