Job summary

Auburn University Libraries is seeking a Student Assistant for the Cary Veterinary Medical Unit. The role supports faculty, staff, and students by assisting with daily operations and providing general support as needed.

Work up to 20 hours per week, with a regular schedule of Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Duties include checking materials in/out, reshelving, helping patrons, answering phones, and preparing items for interlibrary lending.

Qualifications

• Enrolled student at Auburn University.
• Must provide detailed availability for each day of the week within library operating hours.
• Demonstrated interest in public service and delivering high-quality customer service.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Check library materials in and out for patrons.
• Reshelve returned items and maintain shelf order.
• Assist patrons in locating materials and using library resources.
• Provide customer service at the service desk, including answering questions.
• Answer and direct phone calls.
• Open and/or close the Veterinary Medicine Branch Library.
• Scan articles and materials for interlibrary lending.
• Sort and organize books and other library materials.
• Perform shelf reading to ensure materials are in proper order.
