Qualifications

• Previous veterinary hospital experience preferred.
• Knowledge of basic animal care and medical terminology.
• Ability to handle and restrain animals safely.
• Lift up to 50 pounds or heavier.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and assist during doctor appointments.
• Take history from client and record observations in medical records.
• Educate clients on preventive care and follow-up.
• Communicate patient or client concerns to staff.
• Perform venipuncture, in-house lab tests, and prepare forms for outside labs; call owner with results.
• Provide nursing care and monitor hospitalized patients, including medications.
• Admit and discharge patients per protocols; educate on admit/discharge.
• Clean and restock exam rooms and wards.
• Operate practice software for dispensing medications, patient food, and labels.
• Enforce OSHA and hospital safety standards.
• Client callbacks and updates as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
