Job summary

Johnson County Park and Recreation District (JCPRD) is seeking an Urban Forestry Part Time Worker to assist the Urban Forestry Supervisor with tree and shrub care and nursery operations. The role includes mowing, trimming, mulching, and equipment use, along with following instructions and safety protocols.

Responsibilities include tree removals, pruning, debris disposal, invasive plant work, and planting/watering trees.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent and an interest in natural resource management with preference given to individuals with advanced course work in the field.
• Must possess valid driver's license and have a good driving record verified through a background check.

Responsibilities

• Mow, trim, mulch, and perform grounds maintenance tasks.
• Operate equipment and trucks as trained, assigned, and licensed.
• Understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
• Assist with tree removals, pruning, and debris disposal.
• Safely use tools and equipment like chippers, stump grinders, and chainsaws.
• Inspect equipment and perform repairs/maintenance as required.
• Observe safety protocols and use appropriate gear.
• Extract and dispose of invasive plants.
• Plant and water new and young trees.
• Assist in nursery operations.
