UPPER SCHOOL PART-TIME SCIENCE TEACHER (CHEMISTRY)
Moravian Academy seeks a motivated, dynamic, and innovative part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) science teacher for the 2025-26 school year at the upper school on the Merle-Smith Campus. This position has the possibility of expanding to a full-time position pending student enrollment. Discover more about who our employees are and what we offer them.
Essential Functions:
Design and deliver two courses within the Science department, including general Chemistry. In case of position expansion, additional capability to teach physical sciences, engineering, and robotics, or to facilitate a makerspace, would be beneficial.
Support and further enhance the department’s high expectations for academic performance, intellectual inquiry, and personal growth for all students in each course;
Facilitate hands-on exploration, student collaboration, and problem solving; integrate student-centered pedagogical practices into the curriculum;
Create meaningful partnerships with parents and families, including regular communications through school-supplied online tools, emails, and phone calls.
Assess and provide feedback to students and parents during comment and grading periods.
Participate in professional collaboration and development, including department meetings and divisional faculty meetings.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in the sciences; a Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years teaching experience preferred.
Preference will be given to applicants with a previous background in independent schools or similar college-preparatory programs.
Proficiency in digital educational technologies.
Experience with Google Workspace for Education (preferred)

Confident and comfortable collaborating with department colleagues, particularly with designing engaging lesson plans and refining and aligning curriculum;

Energetic, engaging, and creative with a clear love of students and the learning process;
Engages in the community life of the school, including attending various co-curricular events;
