Job summary

Sanford Underground Research Facility is seeking an Emergency Response Team Field Technician for a part-time, non-benefited role designed for individuals to participate in 8-20 hours of required ERT training each month. The position focuses on emergency medical response, rescue, fire mitigation, safety inspections, and hazard mitigation for both underground and surface work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• National Registry or SD EMR/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic certification.
• Rope Rescue Technician certification.
• MSHA Metal/Non-Metal Mine Rescue certification.
• ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 certifications.
• Confined Space Rescue certification.
• HAZWOPER or Hazmat training.
• OSHA 30-hour Construction Course.
• CPR/AED Instructor certification.

Responsibilities

• Train under MSHA Part 49 and OSHA 1926.800; assist training implementation.
• Operate rescue equipment and atmospheric testing tools.
• Conduct life safety inspections of surface and underground areas.
• Develop and document ERT training and safety procedures.
• Maintain inventory of materials and coordinate transport to sites.
• Support underground and surface SURF safety operations.
