Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a federal government contractor, is seeking a part-time Unattended Ground Sensors (UGS) Specialist to support United States border security operations in North Dakota.

The role involves maintaining UGS systems, conducting inspections, training teammates, and ensuring safety and reporting with CBP and DHS partners. This on-site position offers flexible hours averaging 20–32 per week.

Qualifications

• Active CBP BI or TOP SECRET clearance required
• U.S. Citizenship required (for obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance)
• Associate's degree in electronics, telecommunications, or related field or equivalent training
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with unattended ground sensors (UGS) or similar technologies
• Proficiency in sensor collection, processing, and data transmission
• Understanding of wireless communication, encryption and security, and AI with Image Recognition
• Knowledge of best practices for sensor emplacement, site selection, and concealment
• Skills in signal processing, anomaly detection, and data visualization tools
• Knowledge of integrating UGS with other security systems for interoperability
• Understanding of environmental conditions in deployment areas and adaptation techniques
• Knowledge of relevant laws and safety regulations

Responsibilities

• Provide part-time support for operational requirements.
• Maintain familiarity with sensor capabilities and applications in border security operations.
• Assist in inventory, deployment, and maintenance of UGS systems in diverse terrains and conditions.
• Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance, including alignment and sensor testing.
• Provide technical assistance during UGS operations and train team members in system use and maintenance.
• Diagnose and resolve malfunctions, replace hardware components, troubleshoot software, and verify corrections.
• Follow established safety procedures for all maintenance and operations.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and operational guidelines in all activities.
• Maintain detailed records of deployments, maintenance, and system performance, and compile data for reports.
• Manage accountability for system components, including hardware, software, and spare parts.
• Maintain diagnostic and operational tools, support equipment, and test systems.
• Collaborate with CBP offices, DHS officials, and USBP personnel to align operational objectives and reporting.
• Contribute to development and implementation of new UGS technologies and strategies.
