Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a part-time UGS Specialist to support border security operations. You will work in collaboration with CBP and DHS personnel, deploying and maintaining unattended ground sensors in diverse terrains, and ensuring accurate reporting and safety compliance.

The role requires a 5+ year UGS background, an associate degree or equivalent, and active security clearance. Travel and remote deployments may be involved, with a weekly 20–32 hour schedule.

Qualifications

• Active CBP BI or TOP SECRET clearance required to be considered.
• U.S. Citizenship is required for obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance.
• Associate’s degree in electronics, telecommunications, or related field or equivalent military or law enforcement training.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with unattended ground sensors (UGS) or similar technologies.
• Technical knowledge of various types of UGS (seismic, acoustic, infrared, magnetic, microwave).
• Understanding of wireless communication, encryption and security, and AI with Image Recognition.

Responsibilities

• Provide part-time support for operational requirements.
• Maintain familiarity with sensor capabilities and applications in border security operations.
• Assist in the inventory, deployment, and maintenance of UGS systems in diverse terrains and conditions.
• Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance, including alignment, inspection, and sensor testing.
• Provide technical assistance during UGS operations and train team members in system use and maintenance.
• Diagnose and resolve malfunctions, replace hardware components, troubleshoot software, and verify corrections.
• Follow established safety procedures for all maintenance and operations.
• Maintain detailed records of deployments, maintenance, and system performance, and compile data for reports.
• Collaborate with CBP offices, DHS officials, and USBP personnel to align operational objectives and ensure proper reporting.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of new UGS technologies and strategies.
