Grand Rapids Community College seeks an academic tutor coordinator for the Social and Behavioral Sciences Tutoring and Learning Center. This role provides direct tutoring and helps oversee daily operations, fostering a welcoming, student-centered learning environment.

The successful candidate will supervise student tutors, align center materials with GRCC courses, and collaborate with faculty to promote academic success for diverse learners across anthropology, economics, psychology and more.

Qualificações

• Associate degree or equivalent in social or behavioral sciences; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience teaching/tutoring college-level reading and writing preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Provide tutoring and academic support to students in Social and Behavioral Sciences courses.
• Assist the Tutorial Coordinator with the operation of the Tutorial Center.
• Help supervise, train, and mentor student tutors.
• Be familiar with GRCC course curriculum in assigned area.
• Develop review materials in collaboration with the Coordinator.
• Monitor equipment and notify IT as needed.
• Maintain relationships with faculty and staff regarding course content and procedures.
• Promote a positive, welcoming Tutorial Center environment.
• Explain Center policies to staff and students; ensure policy compliance.
• Assist students with sign-in procedures and connecting with a tutor.
• Provide classroom visits to educate students about Center resources.
• Distribute Center resources (tip-sheets, handbooks, etc.).
• Maintain daily email communication and report issues to the Coordinator.
• Attend meetings and trainings as requested; complete trainings.
