Job summary

Lone Star College-North Harris is seeking a Part-time Tutor to tutor and instruct students and community members needing learning assistance in assigned disciplines and study skills. The role provides tutoring services at scheduled times and creates an atmosphere conducive to learning.

This temporary, grant-funded position may continue into subsequent academic years contingent on grant funding; responsibilities include maintaining records, developing study skills, and supporting course

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Transcripts and/or a proficiency test may be required.

Responsibilities

• Delivers tutoring services at scheduled times (individual or group).
• Assists students in developing study skills for post-secondary education.
• Keeps regular and accurate records of tutoring sessions.
• Personalizes tutoring strategies to accommodate different learning styles and needs.
• Interacts with LSC staff and/or faculty to obtain syllabi/materials and to develop tutoring materials.
• Delivers feedback to staff/faculty regarding student progress.
• Pursues professional education through research and review of relevant materials.
• May assist with additional duties as needed, such as answering phones, organizing materials, or checking out resources.
