Job description

***Must be willing to travel up to 100% of the time to various locations within the US during the clinical rotations. This is not a state-specific travel position; assignments can be located in any of the Nightingale SOFE areas. Please see the link below for the list of all our SOFE (Supervised On-ground Field Experience) locations.

We have 3 semesters each year, each lasting 16 weeks (about 3.5 months), with clinical rotations taking place during at least 11 weeks.

Part-time faculty work: 20-22 experiential learning shifts, or approximately 5 to 5.5 weeks per semester.

The starting budgeted salary for this position begins at $43,000. Nightingale College utilizes a faculty ladder with five levels to determine salary and position title. Nursing Education levels include Instructor, Assistant Professor I, Assistant Professor II, Associate Professor, and Professor. Placement on the faculty ladder is determined at the time of an offer, based on degree level and years of nursing academia experience.

Role and Responsibilities

The Assistant Professor for Nursing Education facilitates on-ground education instruction by incorporating innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies, and industry trends, promoting an interdisciplinary approach to advanced practice nursing education and healthcare delivery within and outside the College. The incumbent will deliver the nursing curriculum in accordance with the Program's mission, vision, values, and purposes. They will engage with learners throughout the nursing education process, including evaluating their potential for achievement and ensuring the successful attainment of key performance indicators, program, and functional outcomes. The Assistant Professor is a valued team member within the nursing faculty.

  • Facilitates learning at various SOFE sites, including clinical, simulation, or skills labs across the US.
  • Responsible for teaching and evaluating learners in Practical Nursing, Baccalaureate, and Master’s Degree Nursing Programs.
  • Maintains open communication with learners regarding attendance, performance, comprehension, and evaluation, submitting reports as required.
  • Adheres to and enforces partner facilities’ expectations.
  • Attends faculty meetings, participates in committees, engages in shared decision-making, and other faculty activities.
  • May be assigned to modalities including experiential, didactic, evaluations, and NCLEX coaching based on college needs.
  • May carry additional teaching loads outside primary assignments.
  • Participates in implementing other functional projects as they arise.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution, with 0-1 year of relevant experience.
  • Active, unencumbered RN or APRN license from the state of residence, with ability to obtain licensure in any jurisdiction required by the College, including a multi-state license.
  • Either has or commits to obtaining a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential within one year.
  • Maintains current knowledge across multiple nursing practice areas.
  • At least two (2) years of clinical nursing experience within the past five (5) years.
  • Supervisory experience in clinical education preferred.
  • Maintains immunizations and certifications as required by accreditation, facilities, or state boards.
  • Additional contributions include professional development, SME roles, committee service, and learner load, aligned with current faculty matrix.
  • Experience in Concept-Based Nursing Education and distance education is preferred.
  • Familiarity with learning management software such as Canvas, and proficiency in modern technology platforms.

All full-time employees are required to attend new employee orientation in Salt Lake City, Utah, in person. Both full-time and part-time employees must attend our annual in-person conference. Travel and lodging are provided by the organization.
