Job description

Must be willing to travel up to 100% within the US during clinical rotations. This is not a state-specific travel position; assignments can be located in any of the Nightingale SOFE areas. Please see the link below for the list of all SOFE (Supervised On-ground Field Experience) locations.

We have 3 semesters each year, each lasting 16 weeks (about 3.5 months). Clinical rotations take place during at least 11 of these weeks. Part-time faculty work involves 20-22 experiential learning shifts, or about 5 to 5.5 weeks per semester.

Travel and lodging are provided by the organization.

Supervised On-Ground Field Experience (SOFE) Areas (nightingale.edu)

The starting salary for this position is $43,000. Nightingale College uses a faculty ladder with five levels: Instructor, Assistant Professor I, Assistant Professor II, Associate Professor, and Professor. Placement depends on degree level and academic experience.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate on-ground education at various SOFE sites, including clinical, simulation, and skills labs across the US.
  • Teach and evaluate students in Practical Nursing, Baccalaureate, and Master’s Degree Nursing programs.
  • Maintain communication with learners regarding attendance, performance, and evaluations, and submit reports as required.
  • Adhere to partner facilities’ expectations and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
  • May be assigned to various modalities including experiential, didactic, evaluations, and NCLEX coaching.
  • Participate in other functional projects and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education

  • Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution, with 0-1 year of relevant experience.
  • Active RN or APRN license, with ability to obtain multi-state licensure.
  • Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential or willing to obtain within one year.
  • Current knowledge of nursing practice; 2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience in clinical education is preferred.
  • Maintain immunizations and certifications as required.
  • Experience with Concept-Based Nursing Education and distance education preferred.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems like Canvas and modern technology platforms.

This is NOT a remote or classroom teaching role.

This position requires 100% travel to clinical sites across the US. Assignments are not state-specific and can be located in any SOFE area.

Full-time employees must attend in-person orientation in Salt Lake City, Utah, and all employees are required to attend an annual in-person conference, with travel and lodging provided.
