Job summary

ISD 255 - Pine Island is seeking an 18-22 Transition Teacher-Special Education (0.5 FTE) to support students at Pine Island High School. The role focuses on creating and implementing IEPs, and providing direct academic and behavioral support in transition and inclusive settings.

Responsibilities include collaboration with general education staff, data collection, progress monitoring, and maintaining compliant documentation.

Qualifications

• Develop and implement IEPs aligned with special education best practices.
• Provide direct academic and behavioral support in transition room settings and inclusive environments.
• Use evidence-based instructional strategies to support student learning in core academic areas.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers.
• Maintain accurate and compliant documentation of student services, progress, and IEP implementation.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction in small groups, one-on-one settings, or in general education classrooms.
• Implement and support positive behavior strategies aligned with students' IEP goals.
• Serve as a case manager for assigned students, ensuring compliance with special education requirements.
• Provide training and guidance to paraprofessionals supporting students with disabilities.
• Stay current on best practices and legal requirements in special education.
• Know, interpret, and follow school district policies.
