As a part-time bus driver with Lancaster Fairfield Public Transit (LFPT), you will be responsible for driving public transit vehicles including vans and buses to transport passengers safely and efficiently. Work involves varied hours and tasks, requiring adherence to laws, rules, and regulations, often under different weather conditions. You will use your judgment and knowledge to perform complex and standardized tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Provide safe, reliable transportation with excellent customer service.
  • Operate vehicle controls safely.
  • Transport passengers within and up to 100 miles from Fairfield County, Ohio.
  • Communicate with schedulers and dispatchers about passenger needs.
  • Assist passengers, including elderly and disabled individuals, as needed.
  • Secure wheelchairs and assist with packages.
  • Perform vehicle inspections and maintain records.
  • Ensure vehicle cleanliness and safety.
  • Collect fares and answer passenger inquiries.
  • Follow all applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Complete required training and perform minor vehicle maintenance.
  • Attend safety meetings and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license with no recent suspensions, DUI, or multiple citations.
  • Ability to operate vans, buses, wheelchair lifts, and electronic devices.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies.
  • Effective communication skills, especially with vulnerable passengers.
  • Ability to work under pressure and pass a DOT physical, drug screening, and background check.
