Job summary

The City of Southfield is seeking a qualified driver to transport clients to appointments and for various scheduled routes. Responsibilities include maintaining vehicles, ensuring passenger safety, and completing daily reports. Candidates must be 21+, possess a high school diploma, and preferably hold a Michigan CDL. Qualifications

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent and minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Prefer candidates with a valid Michigan CDL.
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical and obtain a CPR card.

  • Complete daily vehicle checklist and document maintenance needs.

Job description

  • Transport clients to scheduled appointments.
  • Gas and clean vehicles daily.
  • Keep track of passenger count and demographics.
  • Drive for other city and contracted scheduled routes.
  • Drive for day trips scheduled by the Parks and Recreation department.
  • Transport vehicles to designated locations for repairs.
  • Check email daily and communicate with supervisor via email.
  • Complete a daily check list of the vehicles.
  • Document needed vehicle maintenance on required form.
  • Complete written incident reports, as needed.
  • Must be flexible and able to multitask.
  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent and a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Prefer candidates with a valid Michigan CDL with a minimum of a Group C Designation and P endorsement.
  • Will be scheduled for and can pass a DOT physical.
  • Must be able to obtain a C.P.R. card once employed.
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to secure wheelchair tie downs.
  • Must be able to manually operate a wheelchair lift.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check including driving and drug screen.
