Job summary

Masonic Village at Elizabethtown is hiring a part-time Therapeutic Recreation Assistant to provide engaging, resident-centered recreation activities at the Elizabethtown Campus. The role supports a mission-driven environment with opportunities to collaborate with therapists and care teams, implementing diverse programs for residents’ physical, social, cognitive, and emotional well-being.

Eligibility includes a high school diploma; prior long-term care recreation experience and dementia exposure

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Previous experience with recreation programming in long term care or similar field preferred.
• Previous experience with individuals with dementia preferred.
• Strong written, oral, organization and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of DHS or DOH state regulations. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the Recreation Service/Leisure Ability Model.
• Demonstrates knowledge and displays the ability to develop, implement, and evaluate programming to support the resident's physical, social, cognitive, emotional and spiritual well-being. Provides a variety of services ranging from diversional activities, therapeutic programs, and individual visits, all tailored on meeting the residents' leisure needs, interests and preferences.
• Demonstrates and displays the ability to use both verbal and written communication skills to share their evaluation of a resident via assessment and participation records.
• Demonstrates and displays the ability to work with Recreation/Music Therapist to create and maintain a monthly neighborhood recreation calendar. Assists the Recreation/Music Therapist in managing and balancing the neighborhood Therapeutic Recreation budget for programming and supplies.
• Ensures that all actions, decisions, and services provided reflect a resident-centered approach, respecting everyone's unique needs and preferences. Communicate effectively with therapeutic recreation department and neighborhood teams to meet the leisure needs of each resident.
