Job summary

Somerset Trust Company is seeking a part‑time Teller in Berlin, PA. You will handle deposits, loan payments, and product explanations while delivering friendly service and accurate transactions. The role requires a high school diploma (GED) and 3–6 months of related experience or training.

Knowledge of DNA system and Microsoft Office is helpful. Responsibilities include greeting customers, processing deposits, balancing cash, promoting banking products, and ensuring compliance with BSA/AML

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers with a smile and assist with transactions.
  • Receive checks and cash for deposits, verify amounts and endorsements.
  • Cash checks and pay out money after verification of signatures and balances.
  • Balance cash drawer and daily transactions.
  • Enter customer transactions into the computer and issue receipts.
  • Balance currency, coin, and checks at end of shift; reconcile with records.
  • Identify opportunities to promote bank products or services.
  • Multitask and manage multiple customer needs.
  • Handle night depository deposits and adjust cash as needed.
  • Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally.
  • Comply with BSA/AML responsibilities and internal policies.

The teller role involves handling check cashing and deposits, loan payments, product explanation, and being able to identify opportunities to refer customers as needed, as well as providing personable, quick, service while performing a set of regular procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greets customers with a smile.
  • Assist with opening and closing the branch.
  • Receives checks and cash for deposit, verifies amount, and examines checks for endorsement.
  • Cashes checks and pays out money after verification of signatures and customer balances.
  • Balances cash drawer and daily transactions.
  • Enters customer’s transactions into computer to record transactions, and issues computer generated receipts.
  • Balances currency, coin, and checks in cash drawer at the end of the shift and compare totaled amounts with data displayed on computer screen.
  • Recognizes opportunities to explain, promote, or sell financial products or services offered by the bank.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Removed deposits from, and counts and balances cash in, and night depository.
  • Resolves customer’s issues as they arise.
  • Understand and support all BSA/AML responsibilities as applicable to the position as well as consistently, accurately, and timely carry out these responsibilities in compliance with the Bank’s internal policies
  • Perform other related work and duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • Proficient with DNA and Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Must be willing to learn new systems and adapt to emerging technologies
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and security procedures. Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully communicate with customers or coworkers. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense to perform assigned duties and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSCIAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands and fingers to operate office equipment, telephones, etc.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
