With minimal direction,doeslibrary functionssuchasplanning and developing teen programming,selectinglibrary materials,and provideslibrary services to users; does related work asrequired.
Work is performed in a public servicearea, or office setting which is subject to interruptions and background noise. Performs varied functions requiring judgment to ensure compliance with applicable departmental and town policies,proceduresand methods.
Must be mobile, able to push/pull light objects and lift objects up to 30 pounds. Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods. Must be able to perform such tasks as writing, filing, keyboarding, and skills which require hand-eye coordination.
May be in constant contact with employees and the general public. Must be able to concentrate onfine detailswith occasional interruption and remember multiple assignments. Must be able to communicate in English and be understood clearly; hearing requirements include the ability to effectively interact with customers in person or by telephone.
High School graduate plus minimum of four years ofrelatedexperience(demonstratedpractical knowledge of library functions, services, terminology, techniques, procedures, and standard tools);oran LTA certificate and/or four (4) years of college(undergraduate degree preferred in related discipline)withexperience working with teens in a professional or library setting.
Must be able to work Monday and Tuesday evenings (2:00-8:00pm) and one Saturday per month.
Applicants must obtain a passing score of 70% on the interview to be placed on the Eligible List for this position.
