JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • JOB TITLE DEFINITION:
  • Refrigeration Technicians Utilities personnel install, maintain, service, troubleshoot, and repair commercial chillers, cooling towers, pumps, variable frequency drives, and other associated equipment.

    SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:

    • Maintain, service, and repair commercial chillers and associated equipment
    • Install and startup chiller equipment including pumps, cooling towers, variable frequency drives, etc.
    • Clean and maintain condenser coils, cooling towers, pump strainers and other components
    • Troubleshoot chiller pump, motor, fan drive, and actuator electrical and mechanical failures; report issues to lead technician or supervisor; repair/replace, as directed
    • Troubleshoot building automation systems and components; report issues to lead technician or supervisor; repair/replace as directed
    • Inspect commercial cooling systems and log data; report exceptions to lead technician or supervisor
    • Assist lead technician with complex repairs and new or specialized unit construction; rig, remove, service, repair associated chiller plant and building equipment
    • Maintain proper chilled water temperatures and differential pressures in various chilled water systems
    • Solder and braze refrigeration and water lines

    REQUIREMENTS: Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) trades training and Environmental Protection Agency Section 608 Technician Certification, Universal
