Job summary

Lone Star College-Montgomery is seeking a dedicated tutor to assist students and community members in assigned disciplines and study skills. You will provide tutoring, track progress, and create an environment that encourages learning.

Responsibilities include delivering sessions, maintaining records, and adapting tutoring strategies to fit different learning styles while coordinating with faculty to obtain syllabi and materials for course support.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in the subject matter of the assigned discipline.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
• Commitment to quality service to students.
• Ability and commitment to work collaboratively.
• Ability to work independently with little direct or continuous supervision.

Responsibilities

• Deliver tutoring services to students at scheduled times (individual or group).
• Assist students with development of study skills for post-secondary education.
• Keep regular and accurate records of tutoring sessions.
• Monitor and review student work; tailor tutoring strategies to learning styles.
• Encourage students to take responsibility for their progress.
• Collaborate with staff/faculty to obtain syllabi/materials and develop tutoring materials.
• Provide feedback to staff/faculty on student progress.
• Pursue ongoing professional development in the subject matter.
• May assist with other duties (e.g., Courtesy Counter, phones, organizing materials).
• Complete documents accurately and timely.
• Participate in departmental meetings.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
