Job summary

CAP Tulsa is seeking a Part-Time Teaching Assistant II to support early childhood classrooms in Skelly, Tulsa, OK. The role provides morning coverage (7:30am-11:30am) under supervision, helping plan and execute a stimulating learning environment for infants, toddlers, or pre-schoolers.

The assistant will support teachers, participate in class activities, and help maintain documentation per program standards.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma/GED with CDA Credential (or in process) or Para-Professional Certification.
• Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with 18 credits (6 courses) preferred; experience with infant/toddler/preschool.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Comply with Head Start standards and program assessments.
• Assist in daily classroom operations as a sub and in Extended Care.
• Help develop weekly lesson plans; assist Lead Teacher when needed.
• Use CAP classroom support model for management.
• Assist with home visits and parent conferences.
• Collaborate with CAP staff, Family Support, volunteers, and partners.
• Maintain good parent/teacher relationships to encourage involvement.
• Document Monthly Reports, Attendance, Meal Counts, Family contacts, and injuries.
• Fill in for Lead Teacher in absence and perform other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

This position will have a part-time schedule (ex. Monday-Friday, 2:30 pm-6:00 pm). Under administrative supervision of the School Leader and/or Assistant School Leader and the day-to-day direction of the assigned Lead Teacher, assist the Lead Teacher in planning and providing a stimulating and comprehensive learning environment for infants, toddlers or pre-school children; assume lead teacher responsibilities in absence of the Lead Teacher; perform activities meeting Federal Early Head Start and Head Start Performance Standard HSPS 1304.21 and any regulatory standard regarding classroom activity.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Comply with the education content mandates of the Head Start Performance Standards, program assessment, and work plans
• Assist in the daily operations for the classrooms as a sub and in the Extended Care Program.
• May assist peers with developing weekly lesson plans.
• Utilize CAP-selected classroom support model to assist with classroom management.
• May assist with home visit and parent conferences.
• Work cooperatively with all CAP employees, Family Support personnel, volunteers and collaborative partners.
• Build and maintain good parent/teacher relationships to encourage parent involvement.
• Assist with required documentation including, but not limited to: Monthly Reports, Attendance, Meal Count, Family Contacts and Child Injury Reports.
• Complete the Lead Teacher's responsibilities in absence of the Lead Teacher.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• HS Diploma/GED with Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential (with appropriate endorsement), or in the process of obtaining CDA, or Para-Professional Certification (by education or test).
• Preference: Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, or Associates Degree in Family Relations/Child Development or a closely related education based discipline with 6 college courses that equal 18 credit hours in Early Childhood Education. Experience working with infant, toddler or pre-school children. Bilingual preferred.

• Must have proven successful interpersonal relationship skills to maintain effective and satisfactory working relationships with intra-department and inter-department staff, vendors, clients, visitors, and contractors.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions with ability to read, interpret, and present information efficiently and effectively.
• Must be able to accurately audit records and ensure compliance with written or oral guidelines.
• Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work well under pressure.
• Must maintain strict confidentiality of extremely sensitive data, records, files, conversations, etc

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Employee is subject to standing, stooping, walking, lifting, and carrying objects throughout daily job performance. Must be able to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
