Job summary

Lake Orion High School is seeking a Swim Instructor to join our Aquatic Program in Lake Orion, Michigan. This part-time position involves coaching, teaching, and maintaining a state-of-the-art aquatic facility for the community.

Responsibilities include leading lessons, enforcing pool rules, coordinating schedules, and supporting the Aquatic Director with training opportunities. Prior instruction experience is valued, with WSI/CPR credentials preferred.

Qualifications

• Instructors must be at least 16 years of age or older.
• 2 years' experience instructing preferred.
• Water Safety Instructor (WSI) preferred but not required.
• Lifeguard & CPR for the Professional Rescuer preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Arrive on time for scheduled staff meetings and classes.
• Report on scheduled swim lesson days 15 minutes prior to the start of class.
• Place/organize all equipment away in storage room.
• File all paperwork in mailboxes.
• Enforce pool rules.
• Wear appropriate attire when teaching.
• Make arrangements for a substitute if there is a schedule conflict.
• Have your class ready and in the water at the start time and teach until the end time.
• Keep pool deck and equipment room neat and organized.
• Fulfill required in-service hours when necessary.
