Job Description:

Lake Orion High School has exceptional swimming lessons and an Aquatic Program. We are looking for talented people to join us on the deck and in the pool to coach, teach and help us maintain a state-of-the-art aquatic facility for the Lake Orion Community. If you are exceptional in your craft and ready to share your passion for the water with adults and children of all ages and abilities as well as assist in keeping the Lake Orion Natatorium the leading high school program in the area, we invite you to join our team.

As part of the Lake Orion Aquatic staff, you will work directly with the Aquatic Director. We will offer continued American Red Cross certification opportunities and access to the aquatic facility to continue any training and family members access to discounts of pool prices for all aquatic classes.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 15 years of age or older for Lifeguard or WSI Instructor/Headguard is 18 and up
  • Lifeguard and CPR for Professional Rescuer Certified/WSI certified preferred
  • 2-year experience as a lifeguard necessary to be a headguard
  • Display excellent leadership potential
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with the public, co-workers and other coaching staff
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and distress situations quickly and effectively
  • Works well with staff and patrons

Optional: a) WSI & LGI

Job Duties

  • Under the general supervision of the Aquatic Director, responsible for ensuring the safety of all individuals in the Natatorium.
  • Help maintain guard readiness with staff training and in-service.
  • Display good habits towards other staff members.
  • Respond to patron concerns or complaints and forward information to appropriate supervisor.
  • Alert supervisory staff/Aquatic Director concerning any dangerous, unsanitary or potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
