Job summary

The City of Astoria is accepting applications for part-time Swim Instructors at the Astoria Aquatic Center for the Fall/Winter season. Work at least two days per week, with shifts Tue/Thu evenings and Sat mornings; some midweek lessons may be added.

In this role you will teach children of varying ages, promote water safety, monitor patrons, and maintain a clean, safe environment. Training will be provided to learn lesson plans and class management.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years or older.
• Valid Swim Instructor certification or ability to complete city training.
• CPR & First Aid certification or ability to complete city training.
• Ability to physically perform all required skills.
• Ability to pass a City background check.

Responsibilities

• Perform water safety and learn-to-swim instruction, maintaining a safe learning environment.
• Teach skills and strokes according to level performance standards.
• Provide progress updates to parents at least three times during the session.
• Complete records and reports as needed and enforce all facility policies.
• Assist with facility upkeep and cleaning; participate in trainings as scheduled.
