Job summary

Town of Avon, Colorado, is seeking a Swim Coach II - Part-Time/Year-Round to provide leadership, instruction, and development for our Recreational Swimming program under USA Swimming guidelines. The role includes training and scheduling swim lessons, coaching the recreational swim team, teaching private lessons, and ensuring safety.

Candidates should be at least 18, with Learn-To-Swim teaching experience; Water Safety Instructor certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age and training in teaching Learn-To-Swim classes is required.
• Minimum of one-year experience in competitive swim coaching is preferred or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence of required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Water Safety Instructor certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Swim Program Supervisor with training, teaching, and scheduling swim lessons, private swim lessons, and administrative duties.
• Assists with coaching and development of the recreational swim program including writing swim workout plans with little to no oversight.
• Teaches private swim lessons when needed.
• Monitors participants and their ability to participate.
• Provides feedback to Learn-To-Swim participants and proper instruction in the use of support materials.
• Communicates and interacts effectively with class participants and members of the public.
• Issues Learn-To-Swim completion certificates and updates files at front desk.
• Takes proper safety precautions and prevents accidents.
• Demonstrates adaptability when an alternative to in-water swim practice is needed.
• Acts as the main point of contact for swim participants and their parents at off-site swim meets and events.
• Reports damage to equipment and/or injuries to participants by submitting an Incident Report form.
• Educates participants to safe habits and attitudes around aquatic areas and at the Avon Recreation Center.
