Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Michigan is seeking a Surgical Tech to support the operating room team. This role handles surgical instruments, supplies and equipment during procedures and helps ensure the surgeon and team have what they need for safe, efficient care.

Schedule is 20 hours per week, dayshift from 6:00am to 2:30pm, with an eligible sign-on bonus. The position requires a Surgical Technology credential or military medical training, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or six (6) months specialized patient care training in the armed forces required.
• Knowledge of surgical procedures within the operating room (OR), in addition to knowledge of surgical procedures, practices and techniques in providing patient care and assisting surgeons in the O.R.
• Current BLS certification required or become BLS certified within one month of start date.
• Surgical Technologist certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Handle surgical instruments, supplies and equipment during procedures and anticipate needs of the assigned surgeon and surgical team members.
• Provide patient preparation, transport, and assist the surgical care team with specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs.
• Respond to emergent situations according to established procedures.
