Job summary

National Veterinary Associates is seeking a part-time, in-person Surgical Equipment Technician to support sterile processing in a veterinary hospital. You will clean, prepare, and organize surgical instruments, assist with patient restraint, and help maintain infection control standards.

The role offers weekend coverage and a starting pay of $20.00 per hour, with opportunities to learn advanced surgical support skills within a large veterinary network.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in sterile processing or medical instrument assembly preferred but not required; training will be provided for motivated candidates.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology beneficial for understanding instrument functions and surgical procedures.
• Familiarity with infection control practices, including aseptic technique, sterilization methods, and endoscope reprocessing standards.
• Experience with inventory management systems or supply chain procedures within a healthcare setting is advantageous.
• Ability to operate sterilization equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to strict safety protocols.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to ensure accuracy in instrument handling and record keeping.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of infection prevention management in accordance with healthcare regulations

Responsibilities

• Clean equipment used in the hospital daily.
• Identify surgical supplies and instruments based on provided images and written info for prep.
• Maintain and change cleaning solutions.
• Operate Autoclave and Ethylene Oxide sterilization equipment.
• Restrain patients and assist Technicians and Veterinarians for simple procedures.
• Perform routine cleaning of surgical rooms, treatment areas, and dentistry area.
• Stock supplies for the Surgery Department.
• Handle surgical and non-surgical laundry and organize areas.
• Clean cages and setup runs for animals.
• Follow daily department schedule and prep, labeling, and inventory tasks.
• Assist with inventory ordering and supplies as needed.
• Follow infection control guidelines and cleaning protocols.
• Take verbal and written directions from Leads and Management.
