Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Virginia (Caton Hill Medical Center) seeks a Surgical Technologist to serve as the 1st assistant under direct supervision. You will position patients, assist with exposure, and support safe, quality operations across ambulatory surgery settings.

The role requires a CSTFA/SA-C certification pathway, BLS, and clinical competence, with preferred First Assistant program graduate. It is a part-time, onsite position with a 20-hour week schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of continuous surgical technologist practice and eligible for CSTFA or SA-C
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Surgical First Assistant Certificate within 12 months of hire or Surgical Assistant Certificate within 12 months of hire
• Basic Life Support required at hire
• Clinical competence required by attending staff development programs
• Graduate of a First Assistant Program preferred

Responsibilities

• Position the patient per surgeon's instruction
• Use standard and specialized equipment to aid in patient positioning
• Provide visualization of the operative site using retractors, sponges, and manipulation
• Assist surgeon with hemostasis to enable safe operations
• Perform duties as surgical technician in ambulatory surgery center
• Assist with closure of body planes (sutures/staples)
• Apply wound dressings
• Assist with patient transport to/from OR
• Monitor quality of care per standards
• Perform other related duties
