JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Abington seeks to hire part-time Youth Program instructors for grades 3-12 from June 2025 through August 2025. Topics to be taught include STEM programming, arts, writing, leadership and soft skills, wellness, and others.

JobDuties
  • Instructors are responsible for assisting with creating and implementing program curriculum and lessons, managing supplies, and the supervision of minors participating in programs.
  • Instructors must work collaboratively with the Youth Program Director, student counselors, and Continuing Education staff to create an inviting, enjoyable and educational environment for students.
  • Attend team meetings as expected by Youth Program Director.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills are required.
  • Must be outgoing, work well with children, have strong customer service skills, and be a self-starter.
  • For most openings, an advanced degree in an appropriate discipline, from an accredited institution, is required.
  • Prior teaching experience is strongly preferred.
  • Summer instructors are needed for daytime in-person programming fromJune through August 2024, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additionally, are required to attend a one-day, in-person staff orientation at Penn State Abington, scheduled between June 2nd and June 6th, prior to the start of the camp sessions.Should there be any conflicts during this time frame, we can address them further during the interview.
  • Please be advised that the campus will have a scheduled break from all camps from July 6th until July 17th.
  • To be considered for this opening, applicants must apply online and submit a resume including any teaching experience, and cover letter stating the types of programs that you interested in teaching.
  • Employment with the University for thisjobwill require successful completion of the Pennsylvania (PA) Publicly Available Clearances:PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and the FBI Criminal History Background Check.
  • Instructors will be required to attend a mandatory staff orientation prior to the camp season.

Scope of youth programs are dependent on course content and vary in length. Multiple vacancies are available for various programs.Employment is also contingent upon adequate student enrollment in the Youth Programs.
