Job summary

MOESC is seeking a Part-Time Paraprofessional/Instructional Assistant for St. Jerome School in West Long Branch. The position is up to 29.5 hours per week with an hourly rate of $21.65, and includes paid sick and personal days.

The role requires a High School Diploma, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, basic computer/app usage, and the ability to pass a criminal history check with proof of US citizenship or legal residency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Preferred experience with children in a school setting.
• Good organizational skills.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications and email.
• Good interpersonal skills with children and adults.
• Ability to pass a criminal history check and show proof of US Citizenship or legal resident status.
• Ability to communicate and have command of the English language.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with physical tasks such as putting on/taking off outerwear and toileting when necessary.
• Perform simple errands for students (e.g., sharpening pencils, carrying lunch trays).
• Collaborate with the teacher to help students reach instructional goals.
• Reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher under supervision.
• Accompany students between classes around the building.
• Support students in achieving academic, social, and emotional goals.
• Establish a professional relationship with students.
• Maintain good attendance, appearance and punctuality.
• Assist students when they have physical limitations or are wheelchair bound.
• Meet students at the bus and ensure safe transport at start and end of day.
• Perform tasks as assigned by the Supervisor or designee.
