Kern Community College District in Porterville, CA is recruiting a Counselor for the part-time adjunct pool to staff the 2024‑2025 academic years.

The successful candidate will provide a full range of counseling services and/or instruction in student development courses, with day, evening, weekend, and distance learning options as needed.

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s in counseling or an equivalent credential, and demonstrated sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Master's in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling.
• OR the equivalent (Bachelor's in one of the listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT)).
• AND a demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
• Note: Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions; foreign degrees must be evaluated.
• Note: Screening may limit interviews; equivalence requests must be documented with an APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCE form.

Responsibilities

• Provide a full range of counseling services and/or instruction in student development courses.
• Assignments may include counseling/teaching during day or evening, weekends, large classes, distance learning and multiple teaching methodologies.
• This adjunct pool will staff part-time positions for the 2024-2025 academic years.
