About the Vegas Thrill

Vegas Thrill is Las Vegas and Henderson’s professional women’s volleyball team competing in Major League Volleyball. The organization is entering a new era under local ownership and will return to Lee’s Family Forum for the January 2027 season. Our goal is to build a high-energy, community-connected organization that grows women’s professional sports and creates an exceptional experience for fans, partners, players, and employees.

Position Summary

The Vegas Thrill is seeking a knowledgeable, dependable, and highly motivated Strength and Conditioning Coach to oversee the physical preparation and performance training of our professional volleyball team during the season.

This is a part-time, seven-month position that will typically include approximately four to five team training sessions per week. Training will take place at locations designated by Vegas Thrill.

The Strength and Conditioning Coach will work closely with the Head Coach, General Manager, athletic trainer, coaching staff, and other members of the volleyball operations team to develop and implement a comprehensive performance program designed specifically for professional volleyball athletes. The coach must be able to adjust programming throughout the season based on the competition schedule, travel demands, player workload, injuries, recovery, and individual needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strength and Conditioning Program:
  • Design and implement a comprehensive strength and conditioning program for Vegas Thrill players.
  • Lead approximately four to five scheduled team training sessions per week throughout the seven-month term.
  • Develop appropriate preseason, in-season, and postseason training plans based on the team’s schedule and performance objectives.
  • Create programs that improve strength, power, speed, agility, mobility, conditioning, and overall athletic performance.
  • Incorporate volleyball-specific training for explosive movement, jumping, landing, lateral movement, shoulder health, and recovery.
  • Adjust training volume and intensity based on practices, matches, travel, player workload, and recovery needs.
  • Provide individual modifications based on player position, physical condition, injury history, experience, and performance goals.
Athlete Performance and Monitoring:
  • Evaluate player movement, strength, mobility, conditioning, and overall physical readiness.
  • Monitor player workload, fatigue, soreness, recovery, and training response throughout the season.
  • Maintain accurate records of player participation, testing results, training loads, and program progress.
  • Communicate concerns regarding readiness, fatigue, physical limitations, or increased injury risk to the appropriate volleyball operations and medical personnel.
  • Use available performance information and technology to make informed programming decisions when appropriate.
  • Provide guidance regarding warmups, cooldowns, mobility, recovery, hydration, and appropriate off-day activity.
Injury Risk Reduction and Return to Performance:
  • Design training programs that promote safe movement mechanics and help reduce the risk of injury.
  • Emphasize jumping and landing mechanics, shoulder health, knee and ankle stability, core strength, mobility, and recovery.
  • Work closely with the team’s athletic trainer and medical providers regarding player limitations, rehabilitation plans, and return-to-performance progressions.
  • Follow all medical restrictions and return-to-play protocols established by qualified medical professionals.
  • Modify exercises and training plans when a player is limited or returning from injury.
  • Maintain a clear distinction between strength and conditioning responsibilities and medical diagnosis or treatment.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Maintain regular communication with the Head Coach and General Manager regarding the team’s training plan, player participation, scheduling, and performance needs.
  • Coordinate with the coaching staff to ensure strength and conditioning work supports the team’s practice and match objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with the athletic trainer regarding player health, workload, recovery, and return-to-performance planning.
  • Participate in performance and player-status meetings when requested.
  • Communicate schedule changes, player concerns, and training recommendations promptly and professionally.
  • Protect confidential medical, performance, and personnel information.
Facility and Equipment Responsibilities:
  • Conduct team training sessions at locations designated by Vegas Thrill.
  • Follow all facility policies, scheduling requirements, safety procedures, and use expectations.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional training environment.
  • Inspect the training area and equipment before use and promptly report safety concerns.
  • Ensure equipment is used properly and returned to its designated location following each session.
  • Represent the Vegas Thrill professionally when working with venue personnel and other team partners.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience designing and leading strength and conditioning programs for high-level athletes.
  • Professional, collegiate, national-team, or elite-club sports experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience training volleyball players or athletes in an explosive, jumping-based sport strongly preferred.
  • Current Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association preferred.
  • A comparable nationally recognized strength and conditioning or performance certification may be considered based on experience.
  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications required before beginning the position.
  • Relevant professional experience, certification, specialized training, and a demonstrated record of successfully developing high-level athletes will be considered. A college degree is not mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of periodization, load management, movement assessment, injury-risk reduction, recovery, and athlete development.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with coaches, athletic trainers, medical providers, players, and facility personnel.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to motivate professional athletes while maintaining accountability and positive working relationships.
  • Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the team schedule.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to work on-site in the Las Vegas/Henderson area.
Work Schedule

This is a part-time, seasonal position with an anticipated term of approximately seven months. The normal schedule is expected to include approximately four to five team training sessions per week. The specific schedule may change based on practices, matches, travel, player recovery, facility availability, and other team needs.

The position also requires appropriate preparation and programming outside scheduled training sessions, regular communication with the coaching and medical staffs, and reasonable availability to address player-performance matters during the season. Regular team travel is not anticipated unless arranged separately by the Vegas Thrill.
