Job summary

City of Brenham is looking for a part-time Street Department helper to perform daily maintenance on streets, drainage, and vegetation. You will operate small equipment and assist with routine upkeep.

The position offers a rotating schedule with up to 20 hours per week, paid at $12.00 per hour. No formal education is required, and a Texas driver's license is required to qualify.

Summary

Performs daily maintenance tasks that assists the Street Department personnel with the maintenance of streets, drainage systems and vegetation control, including operating small equipment as necessary.

$12.00 per hour (20 hours or less per week) * Part-time is defined as 20 hours per week or less, and less than 1000 hours annually; work hours include rotating schedule

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Performs general labor as assigned in the maintenance of streets, drainage systems and vegetation management;
• Operates small equipment such as weed-eaters, crack sealer and other equipment used in the maintenance of streets, drainage facilities and vegetation management;
• Performs work with manual tools to paint curbs, medians, and other areas in need of routine maintenance; and
• Assists with general roadway maintenance when needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This is a non-supervisory position.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Texas driver's license required. Must be at least 17 years of age to be considered to handle small equipment. Must be at least 18 years of age to operate larger equipment or operate a motor vehicle for City of Brenham business.
