Job summary

Manhattan Youth is seeking several part-time After-school Teachers/Activities Specialists to guide STEM and science enrichment activities for the 2026-2027 school year. Responsibilities include creating lessons, leading engaging activities, and supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic development.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years of teaching experience with elementary or middle school students, strong communication, and a collaborative, positive approach.

Qualifications

• 2+ years teaching experience with elementary or middle school students, after-school setting preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge and passion for content areas; professional experience a plus.
• Experience with educational technology instruction and practice.
• Ability to build positive relationships with diverse families, students, and staff.
• Proactive problem-solver who anticipates issues and remains composed.
• Open to feedback, self-reflection, and performance improvement.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate ideas clearly.
• Flexible across multiple sites depending on need.
• Love, understand, listen to, nurture, and support children.

Responsibilities

• Design program curriculum with Education Directors.
• Create lesson plans based on class descriptions and goals.
• Structure instruction for student-centered, project-based learning.
• Plan and prepare activities for daily schedule and lead activities.
• Model Manhattan Youth values and positive behaviors.
• Collaborate with staff to showcase student work and foster community.
• Update Program Director on progress and challenges.
• Attend staff meetings and complete required trainings.
• Ensure safety during activities, field trips, and emergencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
