Job summary

Sam Houston State University is seeking individuals to serve as Standardized Patients for nursing education in the Grand Central Park area (Conroe, TX). This part-time, hourly role involves acting as a patient in scripted clinical scenarios to help SHSU nursing students practice data gathering and communication skills.

The position is non-benefits eligible, with up to 19 hours per week, and specific hours and days to be determined.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED with at least three years of work experience.
• A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Responsibilities

• Memorizes and presents scripts detailing emotions, behaviors, and disease signs during simulated learning scenarios.
• Portrays a consistent, in-character role as trained for each lab session and responds to student questions professionally.
• Participates in feedback to students and maintains confidentiality of case information and evaluations.
• Maintains punctuality and reliability for scheduled cases and lab sessions; supports quality assurance with other Standardized Patients.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
