Job summary

Lakeland Community College in Willoughby, OH, is seeking a part-time Athletics/Fitness Center attendant to support supervisory oversight of student staff and indoor/outdoor setups for classes and events. You will assist with field maintenance, equipment operation, custodial duties, and safety reporting to Campus Police, ensuring a safe, clean facility during evenings and weekends.

This role requires flexibility, the ability to lift up to 25 lbs, and the willingness to work in varying weather

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; some post-high school vocational training in building maintenance trades is preferred.
• Two years’ work experience in a school or fitness facility with supervisory experience preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education/experience providing knowledge, skills, and abilities is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Oversight responsibilities of student employees: Assist with the general supervision of the AFC and outdoor fields. When needed, step in to complete tasks.
• Perform and/or oversee indoor/outdoor setups and teardowns for physical education classes, intramural/intercollegiate athletics, community services, rentals, and events (e.g., graduation).
• Assist in operating equipment to maintain exterior playing fields (line, drag, rake).
• Assist with custodial duties including mopping, cleaning equipment, and general facility cleaning (gyms, classrooms, locker rooms, restrooms).
• Report exercise equipment issues.
• Ensure a safe facility; report safety hazards or equipment issues to Campus Police or Director of Athletics.
• Maintain and organize AFC equipment (uniforms, travel gear, recreational equipment).
• And other duties as assigned.

• Abilities to clean and care for equipment; learn and properly apply departmental practices and procedures; lift and move heavy objects; operate standard office equipment; perform routine and detailed tasks in an accurate and efficient manner; work independently; maintain effective interpersonal working.

Physical Activity Level

• Light - Sit, walk and stand sometimes, lift 25 lbs. occasionally.

Conditions Of Employment

• This is a part-time position for the Athletic/Fitness Center. The position will be re-evaluated at the end of the semester.
• This position is grade 6A on the salary staff schedule.
• The schedule requires flexibility and availability to work evenings and weekends (Saturdays).
• The ideal candidate will be able to maintain a flexible work schedule to fill in for other shifts, as needed.
• The position entails working outdoors as needed, including during inclement weather.
