Job summary

Crawford Thomas Recruiting is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant / Accounting Assistant in Winter Garden, FL for part-time support of daily accounting and construction-related financial operations.

Role offers hands-on experience with leadership and an outside CPA, with potential to grow into full-time accounting. Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and a willingness to learn AI-enabled tools is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, or currently pursuing a degree.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and journal entries.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Positive attitude, dependability, and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily bookkeeping using QuickBooks Online, including journal entries and general ledger maintenance.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements, and assist with month-end and year-end close.
• Prepare financial reports, account reconciliations, and documentation for the outside CPA.
• Track budgets, project costs, job cost reports, and cost variances.
• Review and code vendor invoices, issue and track purchase orders, and monitor subcontractor payments.
• Assist with project reconciliations, allowances, change orders, warranty accounting, and payroll documentation.
• Maintain vendor records, organized digital files, and accurate financial and project data.
• Communicate professionally with vendors and trade partners.
• Support leadership with reporting, special projects, and process improvements.
• Explore technology and AI tools to improve accounting workflows, reporting, and efficiency.
