Responsibilities

Summary

The Senior Transportation Officer leads high-risk and high-profile federal transportation operations, securely transports detainees, ensures vehicle safety and maintenance, and assists management with problem-solving.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist management with unexpected transportation issues and develop solutions.
• Review vehicle inspection reports, summarize findings, and suggest improvements.
• Ensure all permits and licenses are current.
• Verify safety equipment before trips and report issues.
• Provide security during offsite medical appointments.
• Manage visitor access and restrict unauthorized entry.
• Document incidents, security breaches, and conflicts.
• Use verbal de-escalation and physical intervention if necessary.
• Track DOT HOS on Electronic Logging Devices.
• Assist with interviewing and screening Transport Officers.
• Review and submit reports accurately and timely.
• Ensure all missions meet safety standards per PBNDS/FBNDS.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and applicable state requisites.
• At least 21 years old.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Three years law enforcement-related experience, including two years as a lead or supervisor, or completion of GEO’s Supervision Training Course.
• Leadership experience.
• Certification in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean record over the past three years.
• Pass company and DOT drug/alcohol tests.
• Ability to work overtime, travel, handle stress, and work extended hours.
• Ability to pass background checks and obtain necessary certifications.
