Responsibilities
Summary

The Senior Transportation Officer leads operations involving high-risk and high-profile federal government transportation contracts. The role requires a CDL Class B with a passenger endorsement, and responsibilities include securely transporting detainees and ensuring vehicle safety and maintenance. The officer also supports management in resolving unexpected issues efficiently.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist management with unexpected transportation problems, developing effective solutions.
  • Review vehicle inspection reports, summarize findings, and suggest improvements.
  • Ensure all permits and licenses are current for assigned vehicles.
  • Verify safety equipment and notify management of issues before trips.
  • Track DOT HOS using Electronic Logging Devices.
  • Assist with interviewing and screening Transport Officer applicants.
  • Complete all reports accurately and submit them as per policies.
  • Ensure all transportation complies with PBNDS/FBNDS safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; applicable state employment requisites.
  • At least 21 years old.
  • U.S. citizen with a valid driver’s license.
  • Three years of law enforcement-related experience, including two years in a supervisory role or completion of GEO’s Supervision Training Course (certificate required).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • State Firearms License and State Security Guard License.
  • Completion of an approved training program in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military, with certification.
  • Valid driver’s license with no recent preventable accidents or major violations in the past three years.
  • Pass company and DOT drug/alcohol testing.
  • Ability to work overtime, travel, handle stress, and work extended hours.
  • Physical and mental alertness, punctuality, and ability to work with computers.
  • Willingness to travel on short notice and obtain a USDOT medical card if required.
