Qualifications

  • Able to commit to a consistent schedule totaling 20+ hours per week within project/office core hours.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Review multiple engineering discipline deliverables for quality, procedure compliance, and technical adequacy.
  • Develop and coordinate updates to project engineering procedures, instructions, and guides to align with requirements and applicable codes and standards.
  • Serve as a point of contact to answer ad-hoc procedural and quality-related questions across engineering.
  • Develop and deliver training on procedures, policies, and instructions.
  • Prepare and present quality metrics and reports to engineering leadership and the customer.
  • Lead, support and participate in internal and external quality audits, surveillances, and management assessments.
  • Investigate, and process proposed/validated condition reports.
  • Communicate quality issues and lessons learned to the management and engineering team.
  • Lead and support process improvement initiatives
  • Some travel to project or supplier facilities may be required.

Project Overview

Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.

Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges,our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.

Job Summary

This position is for a Senior Quality Engineer who will support the project engineering team to ensure the overall quality of deliverables associated with this project. This position will support the project as a quality engineer assisting and leading process changes (e.g. procedure/training),internal/external audits, surveillances, coaching engineers on procedural compliance, and working as part of a team troubleshooting issues encountered by the Engineering organization.

Major Responsibilities

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Requires bachelor's degree in engineering and 8-10 years of relevant professional experience or 12-14 years of relevant professional work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Able to commit to a consistent schedule, totaling 20 or more hours per week, but less than 40, within project/office core hours.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Must be authorized to work and remain in the United Stateswithout Bechtel visa sponsorshipnow or in the future.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drugscreen, physical (if located at the construction site), andbackground check which includes verification of employmentand education.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge foraccess to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)
  • Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Departmentof Energy as posing heightened security concerns-includingsensitive countries, state sponsors of terrorism, countries ofrisk, and other designated countries -are subject to additionalsecurity requirements that limit site access.
  • Strong communication, organizational and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong technical writing and editing capability.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude
  • Ability to interface effectively with technical personnel project management, and the customer.
  • Experience in quality engineering, engineering design, and EPC project environments.
  • Experience with quality assurance programs (such as NQA-1)
