Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology from ASHA-approved program.
• Current licensure with the California Speech Language Pathology and Audiology Board.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.

Responsibilities

• Administers diagnostic tests of articulation, language, auditory perception, voice and stuttering.
• Assists in evaluating the patient’s communicative abilities and conducts audiological screenings.
• Carries out treatment of communicative disorders using current principles and assists with audio-visual aids.
• Counsels patients and relatives on problems from communicative disorders; instructs home treatment; assists in supervising student speech therapists.
• Employs standard clinical equipment such as tape recorders, language master, portable audiometer, audio-visual equipment.
• Keeps records of work performed and prepares reports on treatment and progress; attends inter-disciplinary staff conferences.
• Participates in ward rounds and inter-disciplinary staff meetings; serves as consultant in speech pathology and audiology to other disciplines.
