Job summary

Qualifications

• Plan and implement habilitative and rehabilitative programs for speech, language and swallowing disorders.
• Prepare written reports of diagnostic findings, intervention techniques used, progress made and follow-up status.
• Develop treatment plans, direct, supervise, and treat patients/caregivers according to the plan.
• Consult and communicate with patient, family, providers, and nursing staff.
• Assist multidisciplinary team with discharge planning and home therapy programs.
• Complete required documentation and maintain department records per policy.
• Promote efficient use of resources and adhere to productivity guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, evaluates, and conducts habilitative and rehabilitative programs to treat speech, language and/or swallowing disorders.
• Prepares written reports of diagnostic findings, intervention techniques used, progress made and follow-up status.
• Develops treatment plans, directs, supervises, and treats patients/caregiver in accordance with treatment plan.
• Consults and communicates with patient, family, providers, and nursing staff.
• Assist multidisciplinary team with discharge planning and establishes home therapy programs.
• Completes required documentation on patients and maintains other department records in accordance with departmental, health center policies and procedures.
• Assists in cost containment through efficient use of work time and supplies.
• Promotes efficient utilization of resources/supplies. Ensures charges are appropriate based on services provided adhering to productivity guidelines.

Education

Master’s degree in Speech/Language Pathology

Current licensure from the Iowa Department of Public Health

Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (ASHA) desirable
