Job summary

National Heritage Academies in Detroit Merit Charter Academy is seeking a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist to support students with speech and language needs. The role involves 8 hours per week and collaboration with educators and related service providers to support IEP goals.

The SLP will participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, conduct evaluations, and contribute to assessment planning as part of the special education process.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC) required.
• Experience in school-based or pediatric settings preferred.
• Familiarity with IEP development and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with the administrator over special education to develop and coordinate daily service schedules, evaluation timelines, and annual IEP meetings
• Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, including eligibility determinations, annual reviews, and progress monitoring discussions
• Conducting speech and language evaluations and contributing to assessment planning as part of the special education process
• Developing, implementing, and monitoring individualized speech-language goals aligned with each student’s IEP
• Providing specially designed instruction to meet the unique communication needs of students through a variety of service models
• Documenting service delivery, progress notes, and compliance-related paperwork in accordance with state, federal, and organizational guidelines
• Consulting with teachers and families to support carryover of communication strategies across classroom and home environments
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records
• Other duties as assigned
