Job summary

Dove Academy, Detroit, MI, seeks a Part-time Special Education Teacher (12 hours/week) to monitor IEPs and ensure compliance with timelines and regulations.

You will support general education staff, analyze data, and contribute to professional development. A Michigan teaching certificate with ZA/ZS and SPED endorsements (or MTTC pathway) is required. This role emphasizes collaboration with Oakland Schools and families.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with ZA/ZS and Special Education endorsements.
• Or, Bachelor's degree with MTTC endorsements via an alternative pathway.
• Ability to use technology as an instructional tool and to analyze achievement data.
• Exemplary work habits verified by references.
• Two years of teaching experience ( Desired Qualifications ).

Responsibilities

• Monitor IEPs in accordance with federal, state, and district standards.
• Ensure IEP timeline compliance of caseload.
• Maintain knowledge of current Special Education regulations and best practices.
• Support general education teachers and administrators in implementing appropriate strategies for students with IEPs.
• Support accommodations and modifications for students with IEPs in general education and during SPED service time.
• Analyze assessment results with the special education team to drive instruction and IEP development.
• Analyze Special Education documentation and data to support student-level decisions.
• Develop and assist with behavior management techniques for students with IEPs.
• Facilitate positive rapport with Oakland Schools and communicate Manifestation Determination Review meetings.
• Meet regularly with the Special Education Supervisor.
• Address and support parent concerns and encourage partnerships.
• Lead and plan high-quality professional development.
• Assume other responsibilities assigned by the School Leader.
