Job summary

Spectrum 360 A NJ Non Profit Corp. seeks a Special Education Aide (Part Time) at Canfield Avenue Elementary School.

You will assist the classroom teacher by working with individual and small groups of students with disabilities to support learning and safety. Responsibilities include supervision in the cafeteria and playground, assisting with transitions, and helping with language development and classroom tasks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Successful experience working with children.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and school staff.
• Knowledge of diverse needs of children with disabilities and appropriate special education classroom practices.
• Required criminal history check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
• NJ Sub Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher by working with individual and/or small groups of disabled students to provide physical help, emotional support & academic assistance.
• Assist in the supervision of students in the cafeteria and/or the playground.
• Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the special education teacher or building principal related to a good learning experience for special education pupils.
