Job summary

Alvin Community College is seeking a Part-Time Special Education teacher to lead the STRIVE program and related initiatives, providing vocational training for students with developmental disabilities. You will recruit, mentor and coordinate activities within the STRIVE program to meet diverse learner needs.

The role requires collaboration with program directors, adherence to IDEA/ADA requirements, and ongoing communication with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or related field from an accredited institution.
• Valid teaching certification or licensure in Special Education.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, plan, develop, implement, supervise, and evaluate department curriculum for diverse learners.
• Actively recruit and interview potential students.
• Develop, maintain, and supervise program assessment plans and learning outcomes.
• Assess students' progress and provide timely feedback to students and stakeholders.
• Assist in recruitment, hiring, training and evaluation of support staff.
• Use technologies and adaptive techniques to accommodate different learning styles.
• Communicate information clearly to support services, guardians, and partners.
