Job summary

The Fort Madison Community School District is seeking a part-time Bus Associate-Special Education in Fort Madison, Iowa. The role supports the bus driver to ensure student safety during transport to and from school, field trips, and activities, with a focus on students with special needs where required.

Hours are 4 hours daily (am/pm) with pay of $14.46 per hour. A high school diploma or GED is required, along with the ability to pass a background check and relate well to children.

Qualifications

• Requires minimum high school diploma or GED; pass background check; 18 years old or older.
• Must relate well to children and maintain discipline fairly and consistently.
• Ability and willingness to take on responsibilities of the position.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to take charge in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the bus driver in maintaining student safety during transport to and from school, field trips, and activities.
• Support positive student behavior and compliance with transportation and district policies.
• Help students with special needs when required.
• Hours include 4 hours daily (guaranteed a.m./p.m.).
• Ensure safe loading, transport, and unloading of pupils at stops.
• Report behavioral, safety, or health concerns to the driver or Transportation Director.
